As a first step, I had to start living the lifestyle I advocate for. Less travel, less consumerism. And facing that reality, for me, was very hard - the hardest part so far. But yes, I agree - impacting others will be even harder. Most people are utterly determined to look the other way and pretend that it's all someone else's problem. (Then, wherever they live, they'll blame the current government for the economic impact of climate breakdown.)

We cannot leave this to governments - however hopeless, we have to keep trying to influence public opinion towards a more modest lifestyle. And perhaps the only leverage we have is to remind them that this is the only way to give their kids a chance at a decent future.
