As always, the key missing ingredient is public awareness and a willingness to make do with less. Most of my acquaintances are sufficiently science-literate to understand the urgent need to cut GHG emissions, yet they have zero intention of doing do. It's always Someone Else's Problem. Raise the issue, no matter how obliquely, and there are awkward pauses and an eagerness to change the subject.

Unless we burst that bubble the future looks bleak.
