What staggers and disappoints me is the fact that - despite mostly being science-literate and reasonably affluent - hardly any of my acquaintances are willing to discuss our future trajectory, let alone actually DO anything, such as cut their own ecological footprint or get involved politically. The only sane response is to fight as hard as we can for a viable future while accepting that the best we can do is to minimise the harm.
