Currently we have several hundred dead from record heat in Canada, wildfires rampaging in Siberia and California, and unprecedented flooding in northern Europe. Steady ice loss from the Himalaya, the Arctic, and the Antarctic continent. Acidifying oceans with consequences for fish stocks. Oh, and here in my own country (Aotearoa New Zealand) we currently have a code-red flooding event in the western and northern parts of the south Island, with towns and cities isolated; on top of last month's record flooding in Canterbury. Just the usual weather variability? Business as usual? While philosophical arguments may seem fun, and quoting words like 'Bayesian' make you seem educated, remember this: what we choose to do or not do has real life consequences. Let's discuss again 30 years from now. And reflect that our choices, in the meantime, will determine our children's future. History is watching.
