A GLOBAL ADDICTION
Until despair finally drives them to accept their affliction and deal with it, alcoholics will resort to all sorts of tactics including denial, secrecy, sneering, blame deflection, resentment, anger and even violence.
We are now dealing with an addiction very much like alcoholism. Except that right now pretty much the entire global population are fossil-fuel addicts in denial, and the violence is against their kids’ future.

WHO HAS THE GUTS TO FACE THE TRUTH?
The laws of physics care nothing about our childish delusions of endless GDP growth, our supposed ‘right’ to prosperity, or our politicians’ false promises. Setting aside the other planetary boundaries we are flouting, climate disruption alone will ensure that we are about to downsize.
We can do that cooperatively, or we can descend into dog-eat-dog conflict.
