John, those of us who follow the science know that a mean global temperature rise of +2C is now almost inevitable during the lifetime of today's young people. That's a disaster. But inaction would make that around +4C - and that would basically collapse the global economy and result in mass migration and conflict.

Facing that reality is not 'building anxiety', it's taking an adult stance. And unless we have the guts to do that, we won't be willing to construct a society that enables a just transition to a low-carbon economy.
