Just about sums up our current predicament, thanks. Let's get real then: our chances of staying below +2.4C above pre-industrial are vanishingly small. But that's still better than +4C.... so no surrender.

Both hope and despair are utterly irrelevant; indeed they are a distraction. Some climate activists like to protest; others favour lobbying and communication. Everyone seem to think they know what works best; but in reality we don't know what works and what doesn't.

One thing I am moderately sure of though: unless and until the public are willing to take a significant lifestyle hit for their kids' sake, politicians are hamstrung; so most other actions are likely to be futile.
