Some of the criticisms on this thread relate to relatively minor points.

The thrust of this article, to me at least, rings true. But given the urgency of the global climate/ecology crisis, here's the key question IMO: what is each of us - me, you, every one of us - going to actually, practically, DO to get effective change? We don't have time to design and implement a political/electoral system that's fit for purpose. We need everyone to act now - not just personally (i.e. in terms of responsible, restrained consumerism) but politically by voting wisely and selflessly, by lobbying and using the media to demand that our 'leaders' make responsible choices; and by protest. Dear reader, look your kids in the eye and tell them out loud what actions you are taking to safeguard their future. Alternatively just admit to them - again, out loud - that you're just too selfish to give a sh#t about their future. There! Feel better? Honesty feels so good!
