We can beat ourselves up about poor communication but it's a waste of time. Communication is a two way process: if people are determined not to listen, then they won't. Most of my acquaintances are fairly science-literate but when the conversation turns to climate disruption you can sense the mental gears grinding as they hunt for something less threatening to chat about. And that is especially true when it comes to their own lifestyle. Stop flying? Cut ICE driving? Get political? No chance. https://newptc75.medium.com/the-enigma-of-climate-inaction-2e583163e0a0

Sadly, long-term thinking is rarely a priority for the naked ape.

This does not mean we give up. There is still a chance that public sentiment will change and a new morality will emerge.
