Yup, all pretty much true. Alas. Most of the people I know are science-literate are aware of the climate crisis (after all, the increase in erratic weather events is already obvious to anyone but a determined denier) yet raise the topic and everyone looks shuffles their feet and changes to the subject. I suspect that basically most people are just too selfish. This quote seems to hit the nail on the head:
